All First and Second Year pupils are assigned to mixed ability classes and fillow a common course consisting of Art, English, French, Home Economics, ICT (S1), Mathematics, Music, Physical Education, Religious Education, Science, Social Education, Social Subjects and Technical Subjects.
 
Emphasis is laid upon children continuing the process started at Primary school of developing skills and knkowledge and understanding of themselves and the outside world.
 
Help is available to individual pupils and departments from Learning Support Staff to ensure an appropriately challenging level of work is available.
 
In S2, some setting by ability within English, Maths and Modern Languages takes place which includes some specific work with a more able group.
 
In Social Education, pupils will be helped to understand their place as individuals in the school and the community at large.  They will also receive education in health topics and will begin to look at the world of learning and work beyond school.
